The significance of Olumo Rock to global planning of geoparks and design of public outdoor spaces

Olumo Rock is one of the largest African heritages. Conserving our natural and historic heritage for all to enjoy now and in the future, and also recognizing and protecting the landscape values of the rock area for the purpose of creating pleasing physical environment for living, working circulation and recreation.

In view, planning of geoparks and design of public outdoor spaces in this century must be to recreation standards. Recreation programmers affect children's health and participation in aerobic activity which is associated with enhanced self-esteem and confidence. Looking at physical activities, it is discovered that it reduces risk for chronic diseases. The connection between green space and lower level violence among young adults is going to be discussed.

Globalization has made it necessary that a holistic approach be considered in discussing geoparks and tourism of significant relevance to this paper, are the history, economic benefit, recreation standard, location and conservative nature of Olumo Rock in Nigeria's tourism industry.

Recreation and planning professionals must integrate the art and science of park management and open space resource values such as water supply, regulating the design, providing shelter, designing for comfort ability, aesthetics and durability.
Conclusively, planning geoparks and designing of public outdoor spaces in the 21st century is one of the millennium development goals. The above mentioned are some of the areas in which this paper will address itself.
