UNESCO and the Global Geoparks Network are co-organising the International Intensive Course on UNESCO Global Geoparks 2024 which will deal with the topic “UNESCO Global Geoparks and Sustainable Management” and it will be held from 27th of May to 3rd of June, 2024 in Lesvos Island UNESCO Global Geopark, Greece.
The International Intensive Course on UNESCO Global Geoparks 2024 is the main capacity building activity of the Geoparks.
The Course includes lectures and field trips on outstanding geological heritage sites and a variety of conservation activities.
Lectures will be given by Geoparks experts and academic staff with long experience on heritage and geodiversity management, sustainable tourism and Geoparks.
The course provides an opportunity to discover how UNESCO Global Geoparks contribute to sustainable management, how they can make a real impact in local communities and on society as a whole but also provides conceptual issues on UNESCO Global Geoparks.
