European Geoparks Week,26th May - 2nd June 2008

Published :February 19, 2008

European Geoparks Week is an annual event that occurs throughout the European Geoparks Network at the same time each year. The aim is to raise awareness of the European Geoparks Network (EGN) by celebrating both Europe's common geological history and the role that each individual Geopark plays within this. At the local level, this is an opportunity to explore the geology, landscape, wildlife, archaeology and build heritage of the Copper Coast.

The year 2008 has been proclaimed by the UN General Assembly as the International Year of Planet Earth (IYPE). Ireland fully supported the proclamation. The EGN fully support IYPE. In Ireland, the European Geoparks Week will coincide with Planet Earth Week, from the 26th May to the 2nd June 2008.

The Copper Coast Geopark Programmed is under preparation but walks, kids' activities and other events will be organized. The programmed is under preparation. A full week geology course will also take place. See below details of the course.
