To all commissioners, members and national geoparks:

The 23rd Annual Conference of Tourism Geology and Geopark Research Sub-society of Geological Society of China & Strategic Seminar on Construction and Tourism Development of Erlianhot Dinosaur Geopark, which would have been convoked in Erlianhot, Inner Mongolia in the period August 1-4, 2008, was postponed to September 11-14 for inauguration and September 10 for registration because of certain objective reason, but both the conference place and the content to be discussed remained unchanged. Every leader, expert, scholar or friend concerned about tourism geology, geopark or geoconservation is welcome to it.

The specific information of this conference is now notified as follows:

1. Conference title

The 23rd Annual Conference of Tourism Geology and Geopark Research Sub-society of Geological Society of China & Strategic Seminar on Construction and Tourism Development of Erlianhot Dinosaur Geopark

2. Time and place

September 11-14, 2008 for inauguration, and September 10 for registration in Ruiyi International Plaza, Erlianhot. Address: 0242 Yingbin South Road, Erlianhot City, Inner Mongolia. Tel.: 0479-2222000, 2222111. Fax: 0479-2222208.

3. Preliminary arrangement

Opening ceremony and academic exchange from September 11 to the morning of September 12; field expedition from the afternoon of September 12 to September 13; “Strategic Seminar on Construction and Tourism Development of Erlianhot Dinosaur Geopark” and closing ceremony in the morning of September 14; and leaving in the afternoon of September 14.

4. About field expedition

The field expedition will be arranged over one and a half days, focused on the tourism resources in Erlianhot, Inner Mongolia and its neighborhoods in order to study the feasibility of Erlianhot’s application for the National Geopark status as well as the issue of tourism development strategy.

5. Conference fee

A participant will travel at his/her own expense and pay RMB 500 for conference fee. The following participants can be exempted from conference fee:

a. Specially-invited representative(s);
b. Commissioner(s) of the Research Sub-society;
c. The 1st and 2nd authors of submitted papers; and
d. One representative from every geopark (exclusive of the 1st and 2nd authors of submitted papers).

6. Application

The application will be ended by August 1, 2008. Everyone who decides to attend this conference is required to fill out the receipt attached to this notice and then e-mail or fax it to the director of the Office of Tourism Geology and Geopark Research Sub-society of Geological Society of China, Wang Yanjun, via the email address wangyanjun@gsc.sina.net and the tel./fax 010-68999642 in order to make accommodation, reception, expedition and other affairs prepared in advance. The No.3 Notice will be delivered only to who returns the receipt. Please take not that all participants should bring along the No.3 Notice when they register; otherwise, they will not be received. Moreover, please have your paper submitted by August 1 at the latest.
