1. VISIT CARLOW'S VOLCANO

EVENT: Geological walk to explore Carlow's volcano. The Slaney Valley holds evidence of Carlow's long-extinct volcano which spewed extensive lavas onto an ancient seafloor. The forces driving the volcano also developed the later Leinster Granite. but did they control Carlow's once-serious earthquakes? Come and find out!

DATE: Saturday 30th August 2008

TIME: 2.30pm

MEET: Kilcarry Bridge, Clonegal, Co. Carlow (Parking is limited, phone organiser if guidance is needed)

ADMISSION: FREE.

CHILDREN: suitable for children and families (but dogs only on leads).

2. THE MINING HERITAGE OF THE COPPER COAST

EVENT: Guided tour of Tankardstown mining site to learn about the local history  and the mining heritage of what was once one of the largest copper mines of the Bristish Empire.

DATE: Sunday 24th August 2008

TIME: 3pm

MEET: Tankardstown Mining Site, between Bunmahon and Boatstrand, Co. Waterford

ADMISSION: FREE

3. STRADBALLY VILLAGE & COVE

EVENT: Guided walk around Stradbally village to learn about the local history and exploration of Stradbally cove to learn about the geology of the Copper Coast.

5. DUNHILL CASTLE HISTORICAL & GEOLOGICAL WALK

EVENT: The history of Dunhill Castle and surrounding landscapeBeach walk to learn about the evolution of the Copper Coast landscapes over the last 460 million years.

6. FENOR BOG EXPLORATION

EVENT: A guided tour of Fenor Bog to explore the conservation, wildlife and geology of this unique environment
