There are walks and talks and other events to enjoy throughout August 2008 in Fforest Fawr Geopark organised by the National Park Authority Countryside Service and other organisations.

SUNDAY 3

Lime and Coal on the Black Mountain / Calch a Glo ar y Mynydd Du -
National Parks Week

LENGTH: 8m / 12.87km.
MEET: Pont Henllys parking area at the bridge below the old tramline (SN 756 125). A walk with the Wardens to look at work carried out in Henllys Vale, a former industrial site and other interesting features on the Black Mountain. Bring packed lunch.

Mynydd Illtud and Cefn Llechid - National Parks Week
LENGTH: 8.5m / 13.7km
MEET: National Park Visitor Centre, Libanus
(SN 977 262) car park charges apply.
Come and take a look at some of the geological features of Mynydd Illtud Common and visit the viewpoint at Cefn Llechid with a stop on the way back to look at Traeth Mawr Nature Reserve, designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for its raised bog and base-rich, sedge fen and the abundance of wildlife it supports. Bring packed lunch.

Carreg Cennen Castle & the Black Mountain: Rocks, People and Place
LENGTH: 7m / 11.2km
MEET: Carreg Cennen Castle car park (SN 667 194)
Tri-diversity: Archaeological, biological and geological characteristics all feature strongly in the west of the Geopark. This circular walk from the spectacular setting of Carreg Cennen will take you out on to the Black Mountain and back again, looking at some of the best examples Fforest Fawr Geopark has to offer to illustrate the strong links between rocks, people and place. Bring packed lunch.

VENUE: Craig-y-nos Country Park (car park charges apply).
Local food produce from Wales, great tastes, all day from 11 - 5 pm. There will be a minimum of ten stalls and you can buy a picnic and enjoy the Country Park at the same time!
