Coinciding with International Geopark Week, the second annual English Riviera Geopark Festival is a two week celebration of our stunning natural heritage. In September 2007, the English Riviera received international recognition for its geological, historical and cultural landscape and became one of only 57 areas around the world to be endorsed by UNESCO as a Global Geopark.
Situated within the stunning rolling hills of south Devon, the geology of the English Riviera Geopark has crafted the beautiful coastline we see today, linking the rich diversity of the landscape with wildlife, people and culture. The festival is aimed at scratching below the surface and revealing the stories found all around us - tales of tropical seas and scorching deserts, raised beaches and drowned forests, hippopotami and mammoth, sabre-toothed tiger and earliest man.
