24th Coordination Committee Meeting of the European Geoparks Network (Provenca-a-Nova) and the 8th European Geoparks Conference (Idanha-a-Nova) were held from 11th - 16th September 2009 in the Naturtejo Geopark, Portugal. Two new Geoparks have awarded Geopark status - Shetland Geopark from Scotland and Chelmos - Vouraikos Geopark from Greece, while withdrawal from EGN of Macklenburg Ice age Park was accepted. Last meeting established “Thematic Networks” (Volcanic Geoparks, Karstic Geoparks, Coastal Geoparks...) shows as very positive and useful tool with regard to better collaboration among Geoparks which have common interest.
European Geopark Conference gathered about 200 participants from all over the world. Papuk Geopark was presented on Geopark Fair which was organized during the Conference.
